Dozens of Kulgam villages facing water scarcity, residents appeal LG to intervene


Kulgam, August 17 (KNS): Residents of several Kulgam areas on Monday alleged authorities for step-mothers role towards localities as they have been deprived from drinking water supply from several weeks. They have sought LG Sinha’s intervention into the matter.
Residents of several Kulgam areas on Monday appealed authorities to ensure drinking water supply in their areas as they have been deprived from basic facilities amid scorching heat.
Residents of Watoo, Tangmarg, Chogalpora, Yaroo, Kumar Mohalla KB Pora, Nagam, Buwah DK Marg, Badijalan, Chimar, Reshipora, Ahmadabad, Agrochak Gujar Basti, Nengadpora Khal, Nayakpora and adjoining areas alleged authorities of step-mothers role toward the local population who have been deprived from drinking water facility from a long period of time.
They amid Covid-19 and rising temperatures, it has become intolerable for local populations to survive. “How come people wash hands regularly in pandemic when there is not a single drop of water in their homes?”, residents said.
They added the areas are facing water scarcity since long but due to repeated approach to concerned officials they failed to ensure water supply in the respective areas.
Locals appealed LG Manoj Sinha to take concrete measures for ensuring drinking water supply to the villagers. (KNS)
