Doctors perform 57th successful Thrombolysis in DH Handwara


Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNS): A 53-year old man’s Thrombolysis was successfully performed at district hospital Handwara by renowned experts Dr Ajaz Ahmad (Deputy MS) and Dr Nazir Ahmad Dar (MD) and other affiliated staff under the guidance of Dr Abdul Rouf, Medical Superintendent DH Handwar.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the patient was non-diabetic, non-smoker, hypertensive on treatment presented with ongoing chest pain radiating to left arm, ECG showed massive Anterior wall myocardial infarction. A team led by Dr Ajaz and Dr Nazir Ahmad performed his Thrombolysis successfully with the required assistance of Emergency Room (ER) team.

It is to mention here that Thrombolysis is the breakdown of clots in blood vessels by pharmacological means to ensure normal flow of blood. If done within the first hour of myocardial infarction or heart attack, medically known as the golden hour, experts believe that most of the patients survive if treated on time.
