Ananthang September 13:(KNS) District Police Anantnag today organised an open chess championship in which more that 120 players participated at DPL lawns Anantnag. The competition was organised by Police Anantnag with the active support of various sports associations of the district. The competition was organised on knockout basis through multiple rounds in which finally three players were adjudged 1st , 2nd and 3rd. Zahid Nazir Wagay was adjudged 1st , Mohammad Haseeb Bhat ,2nd and Mehr U Nisa won the 3rd prize .The winners were awarded trophies and certificates in addition to cash prizes of 10,000, 7000 and 5000 rupees respectively by the district SSP, Anantnag, Shri Sandeep Choudhary. On the occasion, SSP Anantnag thanked the various associations for their support and promised that many such similar tournaments would be organised in future also to encourage the budding sports talent of the valley. SSP, Anantnag was present throughout the event and during the course of the day interacted with all the players who had come to partake in the completion.(KNS)
