Govt. should fulfil basic necessities of people: Nazir Dailgami

SRINAGAR, June 19: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) leader Nazir Wani Dailgami on Friday demanded upgradation of healthcare infrastructure especially in the district hospital Anantnag in order to make it efficient to tackle COVID-19 cases.

In a statement issued to KNS, Dailgami, said that a number of testing equipment in district hospital Anantnag are lying defunct posing a huge risk to the life of patients particularly those who visit the hospital with COVID like symptoms.

“The healthcare institutions in district Anantnag are unequipped to tackle the COVID cases. The authorities must realize the magnitude of the threat of COVID pandemic, and accordingly upgrade the infrastructure in district hospital and maternity hospital Anantnag where most of the testing machines are defunct,” the JKAP leader observed.

Similarly, he said that almost all main and link roads in district Anantnag are in a dilapidated condition mostly because of the incessant rains.
“These roads need special attention of the public works department so that the commuters feel a sigh of relief. Roads in entire Anantnag need to be repaired and black topped on priority,” Dailgami demanded.

He also urged the district administration to order immediate repair of breaches on the Bund of River Jhelum near Dak Bunglow Khannabal which are posing serious risk to a huge population living alongside the Bund.

“These breaches were caused by the devastating floods of 2014 but are yet to be repaired. I appeal the deputy commissioner Anantnag to give some attention towards this urgent matter,” he pleaded.

Dailgami also demanded immediate de-silting and revamping of the drainage system in Anantnag town which is causing immense suffering to the local inhabitants especially during the rainy season. “A proper drainage plan needs to be chalked out in order to revamp the drainage system in this town,” he observed.

Dailgami also stressed on the need for uninterrupted supply of drinking water to many areas by the Jal Shakti department both in urban and rural areas of Anantnag district.(KNS)
