Director Horticulture conducts extensive tour to South Kashmir


Anantnag, Sep 22 (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Tuesday conducted an extensive tour of District Pulwama to review the progress made under different developmental schemes being implemented by the Horticulture Department.
according to Kashmir News Service, Director Horticulture started the tour by visiting the fruit plant nursery Tral where the Director was appraised that 20000 walnut seedlings have been produced during this year, which shall be grafted during coming season for production of quality planting material.
The demand for walnut plants is quite high in the Valley and no stone should remain unturned in producing the quality walnut plants. Director Horticulture was appraised that at this nursery around 25000 clonal root stock is being multiplied which shall augment the availability of plant material.
he directed to establish small model high density orchard which shall serve as a demonstration plot. Director issued instructions for realignment of electric line which is running in the middle of the nursery.
Later in the day, Director visited C.A stores in IGC Lassipora Pulwama and advised the Entrepreneurs to help the orchardists by way of providing excellent services and charging reasonable rates.
He also visited private orchards in Arihal and Peerpora areas of Pulwama District where some effect of scab was reported. Director Horticulture advised the farmers to go for top working of orchards with superior cultivars for better economic returns of the growers. Director Horticulture directed the staff to attend duties with dedication. (KNS)
