Distributes 2640 plants of Apricot, Plum, apple

Srinagar 27 February (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir,  Ajaz Ahmad Bhat,KAS today visited District Pulwama and Shopian in connection with monitoring of developmental activities
takenup by the Department of Horticulture under various schemes. Director
Horticulture launched the distribution of various fruit plants Shadab Karew area of
Zawoora Shopian. Director distributed onspot 2640 fruit palnts of apricot, plum, apple
and cherry among 660 households on 90% subsidy in the function which was organized
by Chief Horticulture officer Shopian. On the occasion Director Horticulture addressed
a huge gathering of fruit growers of the Karewa area and informed the gathering that
the fruit growers shall avail the benefits of all schemes under implementation in the
Department. Further Director Horticulture made it clear that the orchardists of the area
shall come forward for strengthening of irrigation infrastructure int eh individual
capacity or as a community for facilitating irrigation to their orchards for better
production.


 He also exhorted the interested stakeholders to invest in the Horticulture sector
for creation /establishment of various prospective industrial units in this regard so as
to facilitate the stakeholders particularly the farming community with the utilization of
raw material produced and its value addition for earning better livelihood through this
sector. Chief Horticulture officer was directed to ensure the awareness among growers
through different mediums related to benefits under the newly launched scheme viz
Operation Greens-Top to Total and PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing
Enterprises (PM FME) as a part of Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and registration process
in this regard.


 On the occasion Director Horticulture emphasized that spraying of Horticulture
Mineral Oil (HMO) and pesticides should strictly as per the recommendations of SKUAST
Kashmir/Department of Horticulture. He also informed that orchardists should contact
the Chief Horticulture officers/Horticulture Development officers for guidance
regarding spraying of various pesticides including HMO as per the advisory issued by
the Department of Horticulture. 


 Later on Director Horticulture reviewed the progress made by the Chief
Horticulture officer Shopian/Pulwama during the current financial year. Director
emphasized that all the districts shall ensure 100% expenditure under all the
developmental schemes which are being implemented by the Department.
