Dir Horticulture took stock of Apple Clonal Root Stock in Zainapora, other dev works

Shopian, Dec 28 (KNS): Director Horticulture Kashmir Aijaz Ahmad Bhat Monday visited ACHD Zainapora alongwith Ex. Engineer (P&M) Wing and took stock of the ongoing developmental works and newly imported Apple Clonal root stock.
According to KNS, during the visit, Director Horticulture appreciated the work of Farm Manager and other staff of ACHD Zainapora for their best performance in the farm.
The Director was appraised that 2.80 lacs Apple Clonal root stock imported from Netherlands were successfully transplanted for its further propagation and multiplication thereof. So far about 9 lac Apple clonal root stock have been raised through layering techniques.
Director Horticulture advised to ensure the strengthening of irrigation infrastructure by developing of irrigation channels and adequate storage capacity of irrigation water. He highlighted the importance of producing different kinds of fruit plants in the nursery as per the requirements/demand of growers and Farm Manager was directed to project the demand in respect of creation of more infrastructure required at the farm for production of quality plant material and submit the proposal in this regard.
Lateron he visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Zainapora Shopian wherein an Almond nursery is being established for the production of best quality of Almond and other stone fruit plants. The efforts of Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian and the staff in particular were appreciated for the establishment of nursery and production of quality plant material and other infrastructure so developed in the nursery at Zainapora Shopian.
Meanwhile Director Horticulture also visited the District Training
Institute (Rural Self Employment Training Institute) at Shopian wherein he interacted with the participant trainees and gave brief resume of the schemes being implemented by the Department for entrepreneurship programme. (KNS)
