Dir. Horticulture meets chairman NSC, Reviews establishment of PEQ for Apple, Walnut

Srinagar 13 january (KNS): Ajaz Ahmad Bhat-KAS, Director Horticulture Kashmir/Mission Director, MIDH-J&K today attended a meeting at National Seeds Corporation, New Delhi with  Mr. Vinod Kumar Gaur, Chairman cum Managing Director, Mr. M.L. Arora, Director (Commercial), Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Sr. General Manager (Production) and Mr. Rajesh Kumar Kaswan, Dy. General Manager (Civil) regarding Creation/development of Post-Entry Quarantine facility at Advanced Centre for Horticulture Development Zainapora Shopian over an area of 22 hectare.  

   In a statemement issued to news agency-kashmir news service(KNS), The facility of Post-Entry Quarantine shall be developed by National Seeds Corporation with funds from National Horticulture Board, GoI. The NSC has been entrusted with import of Walnut and Apple planting material from developed Countries for distribution in Union Territory of J&K. Since, J&K is in urgent need of planting material for establishment of High Density Orchards in UT. 

This endeavor shall go a longway in the upliftment of economic status of farmers of J&K. Mission Director MIDH, J&K persuaded the authorities to immediately finalize of modalities and preparation of DPR of the proposed facility.

                  On the persuasion of Director, a five member team is scheduled to visit the Union Territory in the last week of January this year(KNS).
