Dhani Uri residents stage protest against ‘blasphemous’ remarks

Uri, August 19 (KNS): Locals of Dhani, Choolan, and Gingal, Uri town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday held a peaceful protest march against the ‘blasphemous’ remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and demanded exemplary punishment to the accused.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), hundreds of locals started march towards National Highway Mohoura. The protesters while on way raised slogans against the accused who used blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) couple of days ago in Reasi district of Jammu region.

Terming the remarks “deliberate attempt” to vitiate the aged communal harmony in J&K, protesters demanded exemplary punishment to the accused.

Locals exhorted upon authorities to book the accused under relevant sections of law and said exemplary punishment should be given to such elements who lacks any respect to other faiths.

However the protesters, later on, dispersed peacefully from Mohoura National Highway. (KNS)
