Jammu May 13 (KNS): Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh today chaired a meeting at Police Headquarters with the Senior Police officers of Jammu and Kashmir zones to take stock of the deployment, logistics support and accommodation of J&K Police personnel.

According to police spokesman, the meeting was held at PHQ and was attended by ADG Armed A.K. Choudhary, IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, IGP Armed Danesh Rana, DIG JSK range B. S. Tuti, DIG Armed Amit Kumar, DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Sujit Kumar and AIsG Personal and Welfare/Communication. Through video conference the meeting was attended by ADG Coordination Shri SJM Gillani and IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar at PCR Srinagar besides all district SSsP of J&K and Commandants of all Armed/IRP battalion attended the meeting via video conference from their respective places of postings.

At the very outset of the meeting DGP said that it was heartening to have had good words on behalf of J&K Police from the highest functionaries in the Union Territory and Central Government for the excellent work being done by all ranks & wings of J&K Police on different fronts, of law & order, and counter-insurgency operations. He said that, JKP is aware of its capabilities and commitments, yet there is always a scope for improvement.

The DGP said that from Kathua to Kupwara, Jammu and Kashmir Police along with other forces has been doing a commendable work. He said its response to different situations have earned appreciations and rewards for the organisation. He said that facing all these challenges successfully has given laudable results and the credit goes to the last man standing on the ground. “Because of the perfect synergy between Police, and other uniformed forces, we have been able maintain peaceful environment and contain terror and violence instigated & sponsored by Pakistan.

The DGP said that there are some gaps which need to be plugged and there are certain areas which need improvement. He said, the requirements which have been brought into the notice of Police Headquarters have been taken care of whether they were with regard to mobility or with regard to any other logistic support. He, however, added that any further requirements would also be looked into positively.

He advised Commandants and Dy. Commandants to augment and strengthen their resources and ensure that they increase their foot prints on ground whether it is Counter Insurgency Operations or Law & Order situations. He appreciated the role of JK Armed Police in the law & order and other duties. He directed that State of Art, nakas with CCTVs support and residential facilities must be placed on important chowks/roads/junctions etc. He also directed that, highway patrol vehicles allotted recently must be put to optimum use.

Dilbag Singh said that the officers must work out their plans and implement them on ground. He said that there should be clarity of thought while devising plans and while executing them. He impressed upon all the field commanders to take appropriate decisions after due consultation with each other and execute them in full synergy. He said that all preparations must be made in advance and we should stand ready for any contingencies. He directed the district SSsP and Armed/IRP Commandants to interact with subordinate ranks and address their feelings & apprehensions and make preparations to face the emerging ground situations.

All the officers attending the meeting briefed the DGP about the current scenario in their respective areas and assured him that all the orders and advisories will be implemented in letter & spirit.(KNS)
