Delimitation Commission invites Chrungoo to make his presentation on 26 March

Srinagar March 25:(KNS) The Delimitation Commission has invited Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP & KP leader to Delhi in order to make his presentation on the issue of Delimitation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The invitation comes after a protracted communication took place between the Commission and Chrungoo over the last couple of months or so.

Chrungoo, who is currently on a weeklong tour of the Kaahmir valley, in his earlier memorandum/letters requested the commission to provide accomodation to the minorities of Kashmir valley in the ensuing Delimitation Report to the government and suggested reservation/nomination for them in the Assembly of the UT.

He also said that the delimitation is an important issue for the Kashmiri Pandit displaced community as an "unrepresented community" in the Assembly and the Parliament. He called them the real stakeholders in the process. He maintains that the delimitation process will test the intent of the state towards the Kashmiri Pandits.

The Commission in its communication dated 22 March 2021 to Chrungoo says, "your request (for appointment with the commission) has been accepted. You may meet with the Commission on 26th March 2021 at 4 PM at the Delimitation Commission office in New Delhi".

Chrungoo will be leading a three member delegation to meet the Commission at its office in order to make the presentation on the subject.

He had also submitted a memorandum in this connection to Dr. Jitendra Singh, MoS-PMO who is also an ex-officio member of the Delimitation Commission in the capacity of an MP from J&K. He also raised the issue of the Kashmiri Pandit reservation in the Assembly in context of discussion on Delimitation issue in the recently held state Working Committee meeting of BJP at Katra on 7th March 2021. Sunil Sharma, former minister presented the keynote address on the Delimitation in the meeting at Katra. The issue was also discussed threadbare in the meeting.(KNS)
