Decades old electric poles posing threat to Veeri residents; locals seek replacement


Anantnag, Oct 06 (KNS): The residents of Mohalla Muqdampora in veeri village of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district are up in arms against Power Development department (PDD) for failing to replace decades ago electric poles in the area.
According to Kashmir News Service, the residents of the area said they are living under constant threat as live wires are hanging on branches of trees which is posing serious threat to lives of people and their property.
They said that they have informed the concern department several times to replace the old decades electric poles in the area but every time we were given hollow promises.
They further said the officials have so far paid deaf ear to their complaints.
“one can easily find the haphazard system of PDD as electric wires are hanging on trees which is serious threat to the lives and property in the area”, a local Asif Ali told, adding God forbid if anything will happen in the area who will take the responsibility then.
An official of the PDD Kuldeep kotshi while talking to KNS admitted the haphazard outlook of the electric wires in the area and said the matter has already been taken up with higher ups.
He added once the department procures material, the damaged poles will be replaced. (KNS)
