DDC Pulwama felicitates winners of online COVID Competition

PULWAMA, JULY 07(KNS): District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer, today felicitated scores of students for bagging positions in Essay, Painting, Singing, Poetry and jingle competitions organised by DDMA Pulwama in view of COVID-19 Pandemic.

While speaking at a function organised at IUST auditorium in Awantipora, DDC said that the existence of corona virus pandemic is a reality and that people will have to learn to live with it by following SOPs and other guidelines issued by the government from time to time.

While interacting with the participants, DDC expressed satisfaction over the overwhelming response of the students and said that the aim of Competition was to foster the pursuit of knowledge, creativity, ideas, stimulating a culture of reading, learning and values amongst the student community besides keeping them engaged positively in the times of self-quarantine and social distancing.

He added that the participation fulfilled the purpose of expressing solidarity and appreciating the efforts being put in place globally by the healthcare professional and frontline workers of key departments who have been at forefront in fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He advised students to create awareness regarding the precautionary measures to avert the threat of highly infectious coronavirus disease in the society.

More than 1000 students participated and exhibited their talent by submitting paintings, essays, poems, songs and jingles online on the selected themes contextualized regarding the valiant efforts of health care professionals and frontline workers in COVID-19 pandemic along with promoting community sensitivity, community participation, volunteerism, mindful social distancing and maintenance of proper hygiene.

On the occasion, the DDC handed over mementos and appreciation certificates to the students who bagged positions in the competition.

SSP Awantipora, Registrar Islamic University, Chief Education Officer, District Social welfare Officer, students along with their parents participated in the event.(KNS)
