Rs 60 Lakh relief, 300 tents sanctioned by District Adm

 
Shopian July 02 (KNS): A delegation of hundreds of tribal families led by Chairman, Block Development Council, Koteranka (Rajouri) Javed Iqbal Choudhary and District Development Council member from Budhal in District Rajouri called upon Deputy Commissioner, Shopian Sachin Kumar Vaishya seeking relief and compensation for families affected by recent snowfall and heavy rainfall. 

DC Shopian while interacting with the delegation informed that district administration initiated proactive assessment measures and an amount of Rs 60 Lakh has been approved for compensation under SDRF norms and same shall be credited to accounts of affected families after completion of due process shortly. He also assured the delegation for depicting more inter-departmental teams to other areas. 

BDC Chairperson Javed Choudhary highlighted the needs for immediate shelter support for these affected families apart from compensation under the State Disaster Relief Fund. He also sought deputation of teachers in many schools located in tribal areas. Javed thanked the Deputy Commissioner for proactive measures and prompt steps for ensuring timely relief to affected families. 

DDC member Shazia Kouser highlighted the loss suffered by hundreds of families from Koteranka-Budhal sub-division in highland pastures of Shopian and sought special relief measures to support the livelihood of these families. She also sought steps for advance weather information to Dhoks through the District Disaster Management Authority teams. 

DC Shopian also sanctioned 300 tents for affected families of Budhal presently in Dhoks i.e highland pastures of Shopian in the pirpanjal mountain range. He also issued orders for deputing teachers to schools mentioned by the delegation. He further assured for every kind of help to migratory tribal families including medical healthcare, veterinary care, social security and livelihood support. He informed about other tribal welder measures underway in the district including a tribal transit accommodation being constructed for migratory families near Pir ki Gali. 

The delegation expressed gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor Sh Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Dr Arun Mehta for prompt action by the administration to ensure relief to affected families and also called upon the Government to cover other areas to ensure all affected families receive the relief and compensation.(KNS)
