DC Budgam holds meeting, reviews Covid-19 pandemic situation


Budgam, May 28 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza, today, convened a meeting to have a firsthand appraisal of covid-19 pandemic cases, treatment and arrangements put in place at quarantine centres set up in the district.
The meeting was informed that health workers, including doctors, with active support of district administration are pro-actively tackling every issue of Covid-19 to contain the spread of the pandemic in the district.
Giving details, the CMO Budgam said that out of 78 cases, who were under treatment, 51 stands released for home quarantine after their tests were found negative repeatedly. He said that 39 quarantine centers with 1800 bed capacity have been set up at different locations of the district. He said 324 persons with outside travel history and 270 contact tracing persons are in various quarantine centers in the district, besides 1550 persons under home quarantine.
Taking strong note of slow sampling/ testing, the DC directed the health officer to ensure that 120 samples are collected daily from the designated red zones as more sampling and testing will enable the administration to isolate affected persons. The samples from Red zones shall be taken on priority from pregnant ladies, service providers, influenza like infections and co-morbids, the DC instructed. He said that apart from adhering and following all guidelines and protocols prescribed time to time, the district administration need to work jointly to defeat the disease.
The DC instructed district nodal officer, covid-19, to train staff and deploy separate teams for collection of samples in every block. He said present circumstances are test for our capabilities, potential and our efficiency in tackling the current situation.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Dr. Nasir Ahmad, all SDMs, ACR, ACD, CMO all BMOs, DIO and all nodal officers dealing with Covid-19 responsibilities. (KNS)
