Dr Itoo Flaggs off Vehicle Rally; Urged upon Transporters to Follow Traffic Rules in Letter and Spirit

Baramulla, January 18(KNS): As part of 32nd Road Safety Month being celebrated throughout J&K from today, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo along with SSP Baramulla Abdul Quyoom  flagged off a rally of vehicles from Dak Bungalow to formally kick-start the programme. The theme of the campaign is ‘Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Rakhsha’.

On the occasion, DC administered a pledge taken by the driver fraternity wherein they affirmed that they shall obey the traffic rules and regulations for averting losses to human lives and property.

Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted the objectives of observing the road safety programme and said that strict adherence of traffic rules is vital to avert any kind of loss that is occurring by violating such rules. He stressed upon the concerned stakeholders to play their part through their cooperation with the authorities. Moreover, DC said that any kind of violation won't be tolerated adding that strict legal action shall be taken against the violators.

Meanwhile, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Baramulla highlighted the aim and objectives of the programme and said that, during the period, several activities shall be carried out in different areas of the district. He also informed that different programmes of varied nature shall be organised which aims to educate different stakeholders about the relevant rules and regulations.(KNS)
