DC B’la Inspects Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre, Reviews its functioning

Baramulla, May 20 (KNS): Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo accompanied by various concerned officers today conducted an inspection of Mushroom Demonstration cum Training Centre, located at Khawjabagh Baramulla where he took appraisal of its functioning.

On the occasion, DC took a detailed review of the training and other related processes wherein he was briefed by Chief Agriculture Officer Mohammad Yousuf Shah that about 400 growers are currently registered with this sector who have established their units and are earning their livelihood. He also informed the DC that about 109 growers were registered in the current season. He further informed that about 180 quintals of mushroom was harvested in the current harvesting season.

Speaking on the occasion, DC directed the concerned authorities to extend their range of operation and involve more and more youth under various welfare programmes sponsored by the department. He also urged upon the unemployed youth to come forward and avail benefits of various welfare and self employment schemes. DC also kick-started the harvesting process of current mushroom season by harvesting a button of mushroom.

Moreover, Dr Itoo stressed to disseminate awareness among the people about various new and scientific mushroom cultivating methods so that production and productivity is leveraged.(KNS)
