Day One of Road Safety Awareness Camp By Torna Battalion

Baramulla 12 Feb (KNS): Boniyar Tehsil in recent past has witnessed several road accidents owing to the treacherous hilly roads along the NH 44 connecting Baramulla and Uri  which passes through Boniyar. 


Due to  constant snow spells, the road conditions has  further detiorated, leading to high chances of mishaps. After a deliberate assessment, initiative to run a road safety drive for the locals of the Boniyar Tehsil on road safety aspects was undertaken.

 In the Ist phase, lectures were conducted for  Drivers of local taxi association, students and locals. A total of 230 persons including, 40 Drivers 120 Students and 110 locals (50 women) attended the lectures at Chinar Nau Jawan Club Boniyar, AGS , Higher secondary school, and other local schools.

The Battalion had nominated a team, who alongwith  police reps took lectures. After the lectures, local youth volunteers, joined the team to spread the message of road safety  by distributing pamphlets and explaining good driving habits. 

The event gained enormous traction from the locals who expressed their gratitude to Army for the initiative. 

In the second phase, officials from  RTO Baramulla will conduct driving test for the locals at Children park Boniyar   on 13th Feb. The safety awareness camp aims at educating max youth and local including students so that roads of Boniyar Tehsil remain safe.(KNS)
