CRC Bemina: No online classes for Physio students, parents threaten admission withdrawal

Srinagar, July 23 (KNS): At a time when the Government is claiming that online-classes are properly being organized for the students during the Covid19 situation, the 2nd year students of the Bachelors in Physiotherapy (BPT) course at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Bemina Srinagar have complained of non-conduct of classes for most of the subjects since March.
A delegation of the parents of the students told KNS that they have enrolled their wards for the 4-year BPT course at the CRC, Bemina in November 2018. However, the situation post-August 5 last year and lockdown since March this year forced the students to remain out of the classes most of the time, which is detrimental for a medical course which demands clinical activity. Yet, they say, the CRC administration is not concerned even about conducting online classes.
“Now in the 2nd year of the course, the students had to take online classes due to the Covid19 situation, but since March, classes for five major subjects, including Microbiology and Pathology haven’t been held,” they said. The anguished parents said that this course demands clinical activity, but due to lockdown that didn’t happen, and now the callous administration of the CRC is not bothered to even attend the students online.
The aggrieved parents questioned the CRC administration’s negligence towards the students, threatening that if the students are not appropriately taught in online mode, they will have no option but to withdraw the admission. The number of students in the 2nd year is 25.
When contacted, Principal CRC Dr Zafar Iqbal. he distanced himself and said this is not my work .
Pertiently, CRC is a service modality for Persons with Disabilities under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, and Government of India.
CRC Srinagar is one among the seven centers in the country. CRC Srinagar has introduced five academic and medical courses including BPT and Bed Special Education and other Diploma courses. (KNS)
