According to Police statement issued to KNS reads In a drive against Sand Mafia,Shopian Police seized 07 vehicles and arrested 07 Persons
on receiving an information about the illegal extraction of River Bed Material from Rambiara Nallah, police team headed by Wajahat Hussain DY Sp Hq Shopian,SHO Shopian and DO Keegam conducted a raid and seized 04 tippers,01 JCB and 02 tractors from Rambiara Nallah Near Doomwani Village and arrested 7 persons who were engaged in extracting River Bed Matarial from the Nallah.
In this connection case FIR No 126/2020 under section 379, 431,188 IPC and 3 PPDP Act stands registered at Police Station Shopian and Investigations taken up.
General public has appreciated the police action to save the natural resources from being eroded and protect the natural ecology. (KNS)
