Covid night curfew to be imposed in Jammu district from tonight

Srinagar, Nov 17 (KNS): The authorities in Jammu district have decided to impose night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am from Wednesday night till further orders in view of the rise in Covid-19 cases over the past few days in the district. 

In this an order issued by district magistrate Jammu Anshul Garg, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS) stated that the District Disaster Management Authority (DMA), Jammu held a detailed review of the COVID scenario prevailing in the district wherein it has been noted with caution that there has been steady rise in the COVID cases reported in the district over the last few days and positivity rate has gone beyond 0.2% which requires immediate attention and remedial measures on the part of district administration.

"Now, therefore, in view of the above-mentioned facts, I Anshul Garg, IAS, District Magistrate, in exercise of the powers vested in me under Section 144 of Cr. PC do hereby order that there shall be Night Curfew from 10:00 P.M to 06:00 A.M (instead of 11:00 PM to 05:00 AM) in the Territorial jurisdiction of District Jammu from 17-11-2021 (Wednesday) till further orders," the order reads.

DM has also directed that tehsildars and SHOs shall ensure that loudspeakers announcements for awareness of general public for enforcement of night curfew are made in their respective jurisdictions.

He also asked the Chief Medical Officer, Jammu to ensure robust COVID testing in congested areas and potential hotspots. "Any violation of this order shall invite action under IPC," the order stated. (KNS)
