Srinagar, Dec 06 (KNS): A policeman and a militant were injured on Sunday in a militant attack on a police naka party at Sazgaripora area of Hawal.
A police official told KNS that militants fired at a police party at Sazgaripora, Hawal, in downtown Srinagar leading injury to a police constable Farooq Ahmed and a civilian identified as Muneer Ahmed from Safa Kadal area of Srinagar sustained injuries. “Both received leg injuries and were evacuated to the hospital where their condition is stated to be stable,” he said.
Meanwhile in a statement issued to KNS,it states that, Today at about 1206hrs Srinagar police received information about a terror crime incident at Sazgaripora Hawal area of Srinagar where terrorists had fired upon a police party. Senior police officers reached at the terror crime spot.
The statement further reads that, Preliminary investigation has revealed that terrorists fired upon a police party of Police Station Zadibal at Sazgaripora Hawal. In this terror incident, one police personnel identified as Farooq Ahmad Chopan and a civilian identified as Muneer Ahmad Misger resident of Safakadal sustained bullet injuries. The injured have been shifted to nearby hospital for the treatment.
It also reads that, Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this terror crime. Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on(KNS).
