Handwara, July 28 (KNS): Residents of Baki-Aker and adjoining villages of Rajwar Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday expressed strong anger against the PMGSY Department division Handwara for failing to complete the Baki-aker- Saloora road despite passing the several years.

While talking to KNS, residents alleged that the road is getting bottlenecked day by day due to apathetic behavior of authorities.

Sarpanch Bakir-Aker Mir Suleiman said, “I have never seen any officials of PMGSY department who had visited the site and added neither AEE nor any JE is bothered to get regular visit in the area to look after the work”.

Locals alleged that contracting agency is using sub-standard material which is a brute violation of Government norms.

“After years of toil, they got approval for development of the said road but it seems the struggle has gone waste as concern department is playing step mothers role with the area”, locals said.

“We have suffered a lot in absence of basic facility like good connectivity of road in the area but arrogance of PMGSY officials has left concerned people into trauma as they are paying deaf ear to our grievances”, they added.

They also added that locals population repeatedly communicated the hardships to higher officials but they returned to homes with fake assurances only.

Executive Engineer PMGSY sub-division Handwara Fayaz Ahmad while talking to KNS assured that the work over the road will be completed after upcoming Eid-ul-Adha. He further added if there is any complaint of delay, he will look into.

When KNS reached to ADC Handwara Nazir Ahmad Mir, he said those who have grievances can come with representation to this office so that any concrete action will be taken accordingly. (KNS)
