Construction of Qazigund Banihal Tunnel: Do not disturb public movement from Ujroo Post. G.A. Mir tells authorities

Srinagar Feb 17 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir has termed the demand of villagers surrounding Ujroo post (Dooru) as genuine, urging NHAI to ensure that movement of people should not be disturbed from this important road.

As per the statement issued to Kashmir news service, Mir said Ujroo post is the main source of connection of various villages with Tehsil headquarter Dooru, people will have to cover long distance, incase public movement is stopped from this post due to the Qazigund Banihal Tunnel.

In a statement, JKPCC President has expressed serious concern over the agitation of villagers of Mazmoh, Tanjloo, Bakerwal Chek, Bonangan Khater check and other adjoining villages, who are demanding that their entry from Ujro post should not be disturbed due to the underway construction of Qazigund Banihal Tunnel,  as that, the road  is leading to  scores of villages connecting them to Tehsil headquarter.

Mir said construction of Qazigund Banihal Tunnel is in the larger interest of people, but it should not be hurdle to pubic movement of  particular villagers, who have to cover long distance to reach their destinations in Dooru Tehsil, which is not in their interest especially the patients and old aged person, so the authorities should take cognizance of the matter and ensure that public movement should  be ensured from Urjoo Post or through Tunnel leading to these villages.

I would urge upon the concerned authorities dealing with the construction of Qazigund Banihal Tunnel to reach out to people and assure them that their movement will not be disturbed, G.A.Mir added and sought redressal of grievances of villagers (KNS)
