Constant Land Sinking in Wangwas, Yatoo demands Re-Settlement of villagers

Srinagar, June 10 (KNS): PDP senior leader Er Nazir Yatoo Wednesday demanded that residents of Wangwas in Charar-e- Sharief constituency be shifted to some safer location as the land in the said village is sinking for last several years.

According to statement issued to KNS, Yatoo said that villagers of Wangwas already have land available but they are in need of road connectivity and drinking water supply which should be made available by Government on priority.

"Agricultural and residential land in almost a dozen villages in Chadoora area of this district is sinking due to continuous wet weather for last several years. Almost one dozen villages in upper reaches of Chadoora with loose Karewa soil were seriously affected as the land was constantly sinking and eroding at many places", he said.

He added, "Wangwas Goggee Pathri is the worst affacted village where people need to be rehabilitated and resetteled as soon as possible as they have their own land already identified". (KNS)
