Calls it an assault on livelihood of engineers

Srinagar August 13:(KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today said the abolition of SHGs, their work quota of 30% was an assault on the livelihood of thousands of engineers involved in the construction work.

They Party asked the administration to revoke the decision to avoid further chaos in J&K UT.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President and Former Minister G.A. Mir has slammed the UT Administration for abolishing the SHG (Self Help Groups), their work quota and said thousands of qualified engineers involved in the construction work will be left jobless by this inhuman decision.

G.A.Mir termed the abolition of SHGs as arbitrary and a decision taken without doing any exercise. There were more than 15000 thousand engineers, their staff working in their offices involved in the construction work in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, who will be left jobless, this decision was bound to have serious complications on the already devastated economy of J&K, Mir said.

Who is advising the Govt to take such harsh and anti-people decisions, Mir questioned and urged the UT Administration not to indulge in such heartless activities, as that, people of Jammu and Kashmir have already suffered enormously by many arbitrary decisions, he added and said J&K was already marred with economic crisis, abolishing SHGs at this juncture has the potential to further complicate the economic crisis across the J&K.

My perception is that this decision UT Administration was taken t the behest of those who want to secure their vested interests. Inspite of creating employment avenue for the educated youth of J&K, the administration was deliberately showing door to those, who are somehow able to earn their livelihood, which sans the logic, JKPCC President said.

Taking exception to the abolishment of reserving projects for self Help Group in J&K, Mir said these groups involve more than 15000 degree and diploma holders and their staff, who will be left jobless, which will have serious ramification in J&K.

I would emphasize the UT administration to revoke the decision forthwith and take effective measures to create more employment avenue for other unemployed youth to ensure that the current economic crisis confronting youth and people of J&K at large were addressed rather than pushing them to wall. Mir told the UT administration.(KNS)
