Srinagar Jan 30:(KNS)  The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) paid flowing tributes to father of the Nation on his death anniversary at Srinagar party office and recalled his enormous contributions and sacrifices to the Nation.

The Party also hailed the sacrifices & leading role of Mahatma Gandhi in freedom movement.

In a function presided over by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President G.A. Mir at Srinagar Party Office on Saturday, Senior Party Leaders and workers paid glowing tributes to Father of the Nation on his death anniversary, which is being celebrated as Martyr’s day.

Vice President JKPCC Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Gen Secretary Surinder Singh Channi, DCC Presidents Ab.Gani Khan, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo  also addressed the function.

Addressing the party leaders, G.A. Mir paid glowing tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s on his Martyrdom day and said his teachings and sacrifices shall continue to guide the Nation towards unity and harmony.

Gandhi ji was known for his non-violence protests and was leading figure of freedom movement in India and South Africa, Mir said

Gandhi ji pioneered active struggle through non-violent strategies of resistance that reinforced the Indian Independence Movement and became a leader in the Indian National Congress during 1920 and 1930 and played critical role in turning the INC into a mass organization, Mir added.

On this occasion JKPCC President G.A. Mir laid emphasis over adopting the Gandhian Philosophy of peace and non-violence, which is the need of time, as that, there is  no tolerance under BJP rule at Centre, which is responsible for the restlessness among the people across the country, which has to be defeated in the larger interest of secular India, that would be the true message of death anniversary of Mahatma, JKPCC President said.

Those who were present in the meeting included Ab.Rashid Lone, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, Umer Jan, Amir Rasool, Abdul Rashid Dar (Sangrama), Saira, Shameema Mir, Mir Ruvais, Haleem Khan and various other leaders and workers.(KNS)
