Jammu, July 16 (KNS): Picking holes in the policy of the LG administration towards the victims of militancy and in the matters of security, Congress has questioned the administration as to why the hapless family of first victim of recent political killings in the valley, sayeed Mohammed Rafi, sarpanch, Hakura and Block President of Congress, Larkipora(Dooru), Anantnag has not been given any ex gratia relief , after lapse of about eight months nor any senior official of administration visited the family, so far.
According to statement issued to KNS, taking strong exception to the biased and discriminatory reflection of the LG administration in the matter of recognizing the sacrifices of martyrs and ex gratia to their families , JKPCC said that it amounts to insulting the martyr and his family, when no senior officer in the civil administration visited his residence so far nor any penny has been given to the family of four children and aged and ailing mother, who lost their sole bread earner, in the militant attack on Nov 26, last year, during back to village - 2 programme.
JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that sayeed Mohd Rafi was killed when he had organized the much publicised, official programme of the LG administration but still this kind of treatment was given to the family of the victim. Was he not the martyr in the eyes of present dispensation or becoz he belonged to Congress party and was also block President of the party, that no one bothered to recognize his martyrdom and even extended ex gratia to his suffering family , he questioned and asked the LG administration to explain the reasons for the discriminatory treatment which amounts to insulting the Martyr and his family.
The party lashed out at the BJP mind set of LG administration and asked it to come out of this phobia to create appropriate atmosphere for the political parties to play some role, as democracy without political parties is like body without soul.
The worst kind of political Vendetta in the present administration, is unheard of during any governor's rule and it has vitiated political culture. There is need to revisit their approach and mindset towards the mainstream opposition, failing which it can't blame the political leadership for the failures of the administration to deliver and check the political and social unrest in the society.
He said that grand old Congress party has a history of sacrifices and always played a vital role in the history of Jammu and Kashmir, always keeping uppermost the interests of nation and the people but is being subjected to the biased attitude of the authorities in the of matter genuine concerns of security for playing genuine political role, which is most unfortunate, the statement said (KNS)
