Srinagar, Monday 9 (KNS): Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K spokesman Altaf Thakur today questioned the policy of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) on its decision of joining PAGD for contesting District Development Council (DDC) polls stating that how can a national party like Congress join hands with the people who are not ready to take national flag in hands.
In a statement issued to KNS, Thakur said that there are media reports that Congress will contest DDC polls jointly with the PAGD. “If the reports are true, Congress must clarify soon. The question remains that if Congress would contest DDC polls, how can it claim to be a national party as it will be joining the group the members who openly state that they won’t hold tri-colour in their hands,” Thakur said.
He also cited the example of NC leader Omar Abdullah who recently stated that he won’t contest election till Article 370 is resorted stating that since Omar is member of PAGD, how can Congress rub-shoulders with the same person. “Does this suit the national party like Congress? The party must clarify its stand on whether it is contesting DDC polls separately or with the PAGD,” Thakur said.(KNS)
