Jammu, May 17 (KNS): Expresssing deep concerns over the large-scale complaints and incidents of protests by the inmates over lack of proper facilities in various quarantine Centres, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress committee has demanded independent monitoring for ensuring required facilities in these quarantine Centres.
A meeting of some senior functionaries of JKPCC was held here today morning under the chairmanship of PCC chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir to take stock of the overall scenario of Covid - 19 and the response of the administration to dealt with the situation. The meeting was attended by Shri Raman Bhalla, Shri Mula Ram vice presidents of PCC, Ravinder Sharma Chief Spokesperson, Rajnish Sharma, Co treasurer, Yogesh Sawhney, Th Manmohan Singh, Ch Shah Mohammed, S S Channi, General secretaries, Adv K K Pangotra - chairman Congress legal cell, Th Hari Singh Chib, District president Jammu Rural and Sdr S S Shingari.
A statement issued to KNS reads the meeting took strong exception to the reports of lack of adequate facilities in quarantine Centres and feared that if proper facilities and social distancing and norms are not ensured, these Centres may become cause of further infection Centres.
Our repeated requests to the authorities have fell on deaf years and now inmates have openly protested inside Centres.
The meeting also expressed strong resentment over the failure of the authorities to give permission to the requests of stranded labourers, forwarded by the congress party to the Jk authorities, when JK Congress party had also offered to bear their rail fare of labourers. The party alleged that govt does not want to give permission to all such applicants and want to dilly delay the permissions.
Seeking immediate permission to all those stranded people and labourers who intend to go to their respective states and those who want to come to J and K, the party asked the authorities to ensure proper management and information of their travel schedules in advance.
The meeting also lashed out at the Centre govt for its failure to come to the rescue of poor and labour class and it's attitude not to announce any financial support to poor class at least ten thousand per family and free ration to them for atleast six months. They expressed great pain and shock over the sufferings and hardships faced by the poor and labour class in the country and loss of several lives on roads and railways tracks and still they are facing great hardships till date in their urge to return homes.
The meeting asked the UT administration to listen to the voice of the people, students and the poor labourers and ensure their safe return and make proper arrangements of tests and quarantine for them. The real test is ahead as the movement of people and easing of lockdown would throw more challenges.
The party appealed to the people to fully cooperate and follow the guidelines and help the administration is all genuine efforts in this fight but also appealed to the Peyton remain vigilant about any unlawful violations endangering the lives of all. (KNS)
