CLUJ CONDUCTS WEBINAR ON WORLD AIDS DAY

Srinagar, Dec 01 (KNS): Department of Dean Students Welfare, Cluster University of Jammu organised an online Webinar to commemmorate World Aids Day under the patronship of Prof. Manoj Dhar, Hon'ble VIce Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu. Dr.Priya Gupta, MD Pathology J&k Health department Udhampur,was the Resource Person for the webinar. The Webinar was chaired by Prof. Geetanjali.A.Rana, Dean faculty of Humanities and Liberal Arts, CLUJ. She stressed on increasing HIV awareness and knowledge, and supporting those living with HIV without any stigma. She lauded the efforts of Department of Students Welfare in organising a webinar on such a pertinent topic. About 100 students and faculty from PGI Schools of CLUJ participated in the webinar. Dr. Priya Gupta deliberated upon the topic Acquired Immuno deficiency Syndrome( HIV Infection Aids). She exorted that it was necessary to eradicate misconceptions among the students and the general public about HIV and AIDS and promote safer sex practices among them to eradicate this disease. She enlightened the students about the various aspects of HIV infection with special emphasis on symptoms and preventive measures. She also impressed upon the significance of fighting stigma around the disease and providing care and support to the affected victims. She also educated the young learners about the prevailing covid pandemic and how to ensure their safety by following basic measures like wearing masks and washing hands regularly. Dr. Twinkle Suri, Dean Students Welfare, CLUJ formally welcomed the guests and exhorted that the theme for World AIDS 2020 observance “Ending HIV/AIDS Edidemic: Resilience; and Impact is an endeavour to increase HIV awareness and knowledge , speak out against HIV stigma and call for an increased response from people world wide to unite in the fight against HIV and also to help people fight the disease. 

The members of Rotary Club, teaching fraternity of PGI Schools, Assistant Deans, Dr.Geetanjli Rajput, Prof.Shamim Rather, Dr. Maansi Sharma, Dr. Davinder Kour, and Dr. Mandeep Singh attended the webinar. Dr. Revika Arora, Cutural Coordinator CLUJ moderated the proceedings of the webinar while Dr. Banpreet Kour Associate Dean, CLUJ gave a formal vote of thanks. (KNS)
