Srinagar, August 19 (KNS): Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) on Wednesday expressed serious concern over continued violation of democratic and human rights of people of J&K after revocation of Article 370 and demanded thorough investigation into Amshipora encounter in which three laborers dubbed as militants and “allegedly” killed for forces on July 18, 2020.
According to press release issued to KNS, the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) denounced the continued violation of democratic and human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir after revocation of Article 370 of the constitution on special status of Jammu & Kashmir and dismantlement of the State into Union Territories followed by continuing suspension of all democratic rights of the people including labor rights and even endangering rights of human survival.
CITU in its statement said, “The latest publicly known incident of such gross human rights violation is the missing of three young laborers from Rajouri district from 17th July 2020 and subsequent news of three persons having been killed in encounter by the 62 Battalion of Rashtriya Rifles on 18th July 2020 with their dead bodies unidentified and yet untraced. The complaint to National Human Rights Commission was lodged by Shri Om Prakash, General Secretary, J&K State Committee of CITU through Shri Subhash Chandran, Advocate Supreme Court of India on 18.08.2020”.
It said, “Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad son of Sager Hussain, Shri Ibrar Ahmad son of Bagha Khan and Ibrar Ahmad son of Mohamamd Yousuf, all from Rajouri district and aged 18, 21 and 26 years respectively reached Shopian district on 16th July 2020 for work and went missing from 17th July 2020. The families of these young persons have alleged that these are the same youth who were claimed to be killed in an encounter by 62 Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles at Amshipora, Shopian, J&K on 18.07.2020”.
The complaint expressed serious concern over such “allegation of questionable encounter on 18.07.2020” and demanded a thorough investigation/enquiry/probe.
It demanded to put straight the factual aspects of the three missing laborers and alleged encounter in Amshipora, J&K, action against the human rights offenders in accordance with law, besides adequate compensation to the families of the victims. (KNS)
