Chinar corps organises Martial Art Championship- SEASON III

 Srinagar, 03 Dec 2020(KNS): With ongoing initiative undertaken by Chinar Corps towards motivating the youth in sports & develop a healthy sporting culture Chinar Martial Arts Championship: 2020-21 was organised by the Army at the Martial Arts Node, Sharifabad from 30 Nov to 03 Dec 2020. The event was open for all participants from entire Kashmir valley & more than 600 boys & girls participated in the tournament which culminated today. Even the chilly weather & poor visibility conditions could not deter the Kashmiri youth from travelling from far flung areas over long distances to participate in the championship. Voluntary participation of such significant number of youth from different areas Kashmir indicates the growing talent & popularity for Martial Arts.The tournament will provide a platform for budding martial arts aspirants across Kashmir to showcase their talent & horn their skills(KNS).

Championship final was held today & Maj Gen Harjeet Singn Sahi, YSM, SM, GOC (CIF K) was the chief guest of the event. The Chief Guest complimented the participants & appreciated the spirit & enthusiasm of Kashmiri youth. He motivated them to work hard & aim for winning medals at the National & International Tournaments. Master Waseem Zahoor & Miss Saniya Farooq were adjudged best emerging players in their respective age category.

These sports events have been instrumental in building the character & confidence of the young sports person, setting them up for the bigger stage at National & International level. The players participating in various events also appreciated the initiative & hoped that it would help them build a future in the field of sports.
