Cattle thieves active in Shopian, Locals demand stern action

Shopian July 25 (KNS): Scores of locals from Kundalan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district Saturday staged a protest demonstration and demanded authorities to act tough against the cattle thieves.
Reports reaching to Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that several residents staged a protest and blocked Kulgam Shopian road for hours and were demanding toughest action against the accused persons.
They said that from couple of days several cattle’s has been stolen in the area which left the locality in distress. They added the locals approached the authorities in this regard but they failed to take any serious step in the direction.
Locals alleged that the incidents are not fresh but in recent past cattle smugglers were on prowl. They said despite the matter was brought into the notice of authorities, they kept deep mum.
Locals further added that if stealing attempts are not stopped forthwith, they will come with massive protest whose responsibility lies on the shoulders of apathetic officials. (KNS)
