Brutal action on journalists in South Kashmir Condemnable: Qayoom Wani

Srinagar December 10:(KNS) Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum Abdul Qayoom Wani has strongly condemned the disgraceful incident of thrashing and manhandling of three journalists in Srigufwara in south Kashmiri’s Anantnag district on Thursday when they were performing thier professional duties.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Wani vehemently condemned the inhuman action of security forces on three journalists today in Sigufwara. Wani said it was most unfortunate that the government has miserably failed to check growing and repeated incidents of harassment a journalists in kashmir. He said manhandling of three journalists including Fayaz Ahmad stringer of ETV Bharat, Mudasir Qadri of news 18 and Juanid Ahmad of TV-9 at Srigufwara ,Anantnag today was one bad example of muzzling the voice of press in Kashmir.

Wani said the incident of alleged beating of three journalists and capture of all their equipment is unacceptable.
Wani said journalists have been rendering services in Kashmir in tough times and to target them is inhuman act.


Wani demanded immediate probe into the incident to punish the guilty so as to restore sense of security among journalist fraternity.
Chairman JKCSF Abdul Qayoom Wani urged for providing a free and safe atmosphere to ensure freedom of press and to enable journalists to perform thier duty without fear or frail.(KNS)
