Brown sugar, 2.65 lac cash recovered from 5 notorious drug peddlers in Handwara: Police


Handwara, Sept 05 (KNS): Handwara Police on Saturday arrested five notorious drug peddlers and recovered 100 grams of brown sugar and a cash of rupees 2.65 lac from their possession.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), police in its statement said that based on reliable information, a police party of PS Kralgund conducted vehicle checking in Rasripora and Badrah villages during which five persons namely Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Riyaz Ahmad Lone @ Riyaz Badra son of Sana-ullah Lone both residents of Badrah Payeen, Feroz Ahmad Pandith son of Ali Mohammad Pandith, Asif Manzoor Mir son of Manzoor Ahmad Mir both residents of Langate and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat resident of Maratgam Langate were apprehended.
During their personal search, police said, 100 grams of brown sugar and cash worth rupees 2.65 lac were recovered from their possession. It added that a case under FIR No. 84 and 85/2020 U/S 8/21, 29 NDPS Act has been registered against the persons arrested in PS Kralgund and further investigations taken up.
These efforts are hugely hailed by the general public, police said and appealed people to co-operate in sharing all the information related to drug abuse so that curative steps can be initiated. (KNS)
