Body of missing soldier fished out in North Kashmir


Baramulla, June 10 (KNS): After five days of continuous search, the body of a missing soldier was today fished out from a dam in Boniyar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.

According to reports Police and the army after seeking help from the CCTV footage found that the soldier had gone across the river after leaving his mobile phone on the banks of the river. He, however, didn’t return after which a massive search operation was launched to trace him

The deceased has been identified as Afsar Singh son of Surendra Singh, a resident of Bikna village in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh with service number 3312984W deployed with army battalion 05 Jatt. He had joined the service on 2016.

Senior Superintendent of police (SSP), Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom also confirmed that the body of missing soldier has been recovered after five days at Boniyar, Uri.

A police officer said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up (KNS)
