Banihal village boycott DDC polls, says always befooled in the name of development

Banihal, Dec 04 (KNS): Scores of residents of Kali Masta Goal area of Banihal on Friday protested against the authorities for failing in providing basic facilities in the area, saying till the area is not developed on all fronts, the residents will stick on poll boycott policy.

Talking to reporters, the locals expressed resentment against non-availability of basic facilities in the area. They said though government had announced DDC polls across Jammu and Kashmir buy they will not cast their ballots till the demands of the area are not fulfilled.

"Several eletions were conducted in past but our area was always ignored and no attention was given to pleas of local residents. We were befooled always in the name of development", locals said.

They said how come government is expecting votes from us when demands of ours have been left unattended by the successive regimes. "Let you see the road connectivity and took the stock of basic facilities in the area. Is government expecting that locals of the area will participate in polls?", they questioned.

"Till our area is not developed and basic facilities ensured, we can't cast vote", locals added.

However till 11 am of Friday, there was not a single vote casted in the village. (KNS)
