Handwara September 20:(KNS) On Sunday the mega event 3rd edition 2020 Bangus Soccer Tournament final match was played at Sports field of Bakihakra of Handwara. The mega event was organized by Bungs Soccer organization at Bakhi-Aker Handwara in collaboration with JKFA Youth service and Sports.
Nobody would have expected that thousands of fans will throng the venue.
Arco sports Sopore and FC Bandipora clashed in the final at Baki Aker ground Handwara, in which Arco Sports Sopore defeated Bandipora by two goals. The match ended at around 6 Pm. Huge number of fans gathered at the venue to witness the match.
From children to senior citizens, the crowd thoroughly enjoyed the 80-minutes of high voltage football match at the place which is always in news for other reasons. From afternoon, people from adjoining areas gathered at the place through cars, bikes, trucks, tippers, load carriers and whatever form of transport they could get. The festivity in the area made the people of remote area to forget about their day-to-day issues for some time.
In view of the pandemic, the SOP and Covid guidelines with strict social distance were followed. Only after guidelines the visitors were allowed to visit the beautiful Bakihakra Sports field, which is atop a hillock surrounded by apple orchards, to enjoy the matches of the tournament. The video recording of the match was prepared and provided to the football lovers.
The event was attended by many top officials from administration and police, including, Chief Guest DGP YS&S J&K, Dr. Saleem-u- Rehman, President JKFA, Zameer Thakor, SHO and SDPO Handwara, people from civil society and many other senior footballers and senior citizens.
The cheif organizer Suliman Mir said, that holding such an event in remote area near LoC is possible only due to the wholehearted support of locals. He extended his warm and thankful note guests, participants and fans for attending the event.
The Cheif officer of Youth service and sports Kupwara,with his staff, including, M Maqbool, Abdul Rashid and M Amin were also present at the occasion. He later thanked the management for organizing such mega event and urged youth to participate in sports activities.
The guests later distributed awards among players and other participants.
