Awantipora Police arrests 2 notorious drug peddlers alongwith charas, cash

Awantipora Jan 01 (KNS): Awantipora Police on Friday arrested two notorious drug peddlers from Reshipora area and seized 2.2 kilogram charas and rupees 50,000 cash from their possession.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), while continuing its drive against the drug peddlers and its propagators, Awantipora Police arrested two drug peddler from Reshipora area.

"Acting on information, Awantipora Police placed a special Naka at Reshipora Bunpora near irrigation gauge and arrested two drug peddler identified as Gulzar Ahmed Ganie S/O Ghulam Mohammed Ganie R/O Braw Bandina and Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/O Mohammed Ramzan Bhat R/O Kulpora Lassipora Pulwama", police spokesperon said.

He added that 2.20 Kgs of contraband substance charas and a cash amount of Rs 50,000 (Fifty Thousand only) were recovered from the possession of arrested persons boarding in a Santro vehicle bearing registration number JK03B-9591 used in the commission of the said crime has also been seized.

Police further said that during on spot questioning of the arrested, the duo admitted that the seized money pertains to the proceeds of the narcotic substances.

"A case under FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of NDPS law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigations taken up", police spokesperson said.

Awantipora Police at the occasiom appealed community members to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and addes that persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly under law. (KNS)
