Awami Itehad Party welcomes release of JKPM President Dr Shah Faisal

Srinagar, 4 June (KNS): Incarcerated Er Abdul Rashid lead Awami Itehad Party today welcomed the release of Dr Shah Faisal, nearly ten months after his detention was ordered post abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A.
In a joint statement issued to KNS, party top brass comprising Senior Leaders Parvaiz Ahmed Shah, Nazir Ahmed Moon, Peerzada Firdous Ahmed , Showkat Ahmed Zargar, Sheeban Ashai termed the quashing of draconian Public safety act against JKPM President as an admission of failure by Modi Lead Government to manufacture any cosmetic political changes on ground post August 5th. The manner in which all Kashmiri leaders were forced into incarceration, put under indefinite illegal detentions or under house arrests would be remembered as one of the darkest chapters in history of Jammu And Kashmir. It is pertinent to mention still scores of top Kashmiri leaders irrespective of political ideologies including Awami Itehad Party Supremo Er Rashid continue to remain in captivity nearly a year after abrogation of Articles 35A and 370. It is for those occupying chairs of power in New Delhi to understand that adopting aggressive policies, caging political leadership or using oppressive tactics to coerce common people don’t bring upon resolutions of decades old political issues.

Awami Itehad Party leadership wants to make it absolutely clear to present day Government in New Delhi that under no circumstances can there be any compromise on 370,35A or the core issue of resolution of Kashmir dispute. The current situation and prevailing geo-political developments demand from present leadership in India also to shun unreal, outlandish attitudes and accept the on-ground realities in Kashmir. In order to put a halt on bloodshed in sub-continent and peaceful coextensive of people historic mistakes including that of August 5th need to be revisited and corrected. We are making it amply clear to Indian opposition leadership that political misadventures of BJP are pushing the sub-continent towards the brink of a war. And the current standoff with China is a direct dividend from Modi’s political puerility, it was imprudent on anyone’s behalf to believe unilateral, authoritative decisions of August 5th, contravention of constitutional guarantees and UN resolutions wouldn’t invite any international intervention. Reasonable, pragmatic political voices in India must sense the gravity of situation before it’s all too late, China’s intervention has caught current regime off guard & the International humiliation India is facing on the global stage is for everyone to witness. Time has come when saner voices in India must understand and make incumbent on their Government need for establishing peace in Kashmir. Initiating reconciliatory measures is a need of hour, there is no option in the present scenario but for current regime in New Delhi to revisit decisions of August 5th, release all Kashmiri political prisoners across ideologies.(KNS)
