Authorities barred routes leading to Nallah Mawer for stopping extraction of sand, bajri ‘illegally

Handwara, Nov 3 (KNS): A day after Kashmir News Service published a story about illegal extraction of sand and bajri from Nallah Mawer in north Kashmir’s Kupwara, authorities on Tuesday took strong note and disconnected links where from illegal trade was carried on by miscreants.

According to reports reached to KNS here said Handwara Police along with Department of Geology & Mining disconnected all the routes leading to Nallah Mawer aimed to curb the illegal extraction of sand and bajri from the Nallah.

It said that on the directions of Superintendent of Police (SP) Handwara Dr GV Sandeep, SDPO Handwara Syed Fariz along with SHO Handwara, DO Langate and officials of G&M Department disconnected all the routes to Nallah to put an end into the extraction of sand and bajri which were being transported to other locations illegally from here.

Confirming the development to KNS, SDPO Handwara Syed Fariz said that all the routes leading to Nallah Mawer have been disconnected and added whosoever will be found in violating norms, will be taken sternly.

Earlier locals of the area had appealed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene into the matter and put an end into the illegal trade being carried out from the Nallah. (KNS)
