Army pays tribute to Rifleman Shubam Sharma, Havildar Kuldeep


Srinagar, 02 Oct (KNS): Army on Friday , paid a befitting tribute to Late Havildar Kuldeep Singh and Late Rifleman Shubam Sharma, who made the supreme sacrifice on 01 Oct 2020 in North Kashmir. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen BS Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the bravehearts on behalf of the proud nation.
According to statement issued to KNS reads, late Havildar Kuldeep Singh and Late Rifleman Shubam Sharma were directing own retaliatory fire from a forward post on the Line of Control in Kupwara District, in response to an unprovoked Ceasefire Violation by Pakistan. Late Havildar Kuldeep Singh and Late Rifleman Shubam Sharma laid down their life in the line of duty as a result of a direct hit by enemy fire and succumbed to their injuries.
Late Havildar Kuldeep Singh was 37 years old and had joined the Army on 26 Aug 2002. He belonged to Village Raju Dwakhari of Dasua Tehsil, Hoshiarpur District in Punjab and is survived by his wife, Smt Rajwinder Kaur, a son and a daughter.
Late Rifleman Shubam Sharma was 22 years old and had joined the Army on 17 Sep 2016. He belonged to Village Shakhian Chak of Satraiyan Tehsil, District in Jammu and is survived by his father Shri Vijay Kumar.
Late Havildar Kuldeep Singh was enrolled into 15 Sikh Light Infantry and Late Rifleman Shubam Sharma was enrolled into 8 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles after completion of their training. They both displayed their mettle by doing extremely well in their trade work and all fields. These brave sons of the soil displayed immense physical & mental strength in the face of the enemy.
Late Havildar Kuldeep Singh and Late Rifleman Shubam Sharma were taken for last rites to their native place, where they would be laid to rest with full military honors. In this hour of grief, the Army salutes their sacrifice and stands in solidarity with the bereaved families.(KNS)
