Srinagar, July 14 (KNS):Enormous requisitions and an overwhelming response from the youth of South Kashmir was received for the conduct of a sports tournament. Hailing from various locations of South Kashmir, the potential of the youth specially inclined towards sports is praiseworthy.
according to statement issued to KNS reads, to encourage such individuals and inculcate the spirit of competition and sportsmanship, Anantnag High Ground Military Camp conducted ‘Chinar Inter Village Volleyball Tournament’ from 11 - 12 July 2020.The youth of the area have requested for conducting more such tournaments so that they continue to excel and contest at higher levels.

The high energy, eagerness and staunch winning spirit during the matches was a sight to watch. Total eight teams participated in the tournament including players from villages of Qazigund, Magraypora, Dachipora, Donipawa, Kokernag, Naogam, Hatigam, Harnag, Shopian and Kulgam. The tournament was conducted over two days wherein Team Donipawa won the finals against Harnag. Locals turned out to enjoy the matches in large numbers.
All COVID-19 precautions were ensured during the conduct of the tournament including entire sanitizing of players, locals and their belongings and maintaining social distancing throughout. The winning team was felicitated by gold medals and a cash prizes. (KNS)
