Raja Aijaz, Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum call on Governor

Thank Sajad Lone for introducing 3% Reservation Bill & advocating ST status to Pahari’s


Srinagar, Jan 16 (KNS): Senior Peoples Conference (PC) leader, Raja Aijaz Ali along with Chairman Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum Raja Sharafat Ali Khan and other senior leaders of the forum, called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan in Jammu on Wednesday.
Accordion to a statement issued to KNS, the Governor was benevolent to give a patient hearing to the presentation made by leaders regarding the claim of granting ST status to Pahari Community of the state by Government of India, and also withholding of the assent to be granted by the Governor on 3% reservation bill proposed by the coalition government.
Having appreciated the genuine claim of the community, the Governor made a commitment to call for the file and consider the same sympathetically. He has also promised to support their cause for grant of ST as well at the Government of India level.
The forum has expressed its gratitude to PC President Sajad Gani Lone, for his endurance and support to the cause, which he exhibited during the preparation of the reservation bill as the then Social Welfare Minister of the State, and for the effort for piloting it through the cabinet and the then legislative assembly, successfully.
Sajad Lone has been gracious to support the matter at Raj Bhavan during his recent meeting with the Governor, the statement added. (KNS)
