Join hands with Police to eradicate drug menace; SP Kulgam

60 drug peddlers arrested in last two months in Kulgam

Srinagar, Nov 09 (KNS): Continuing its campaign “war on drugs”, Kulgam police has arrested 60 drug peddlers in last two months and recovered huge amount of contraband substances from their possession.
Kulgam police in cooperation with civil society has succeeded to curb the menace of drugs to the greater extent in the district. In the last two months, 60 drug peddlers were arrested and huge quantity of contraband substances including 486 Kilograms of Poppy Straw, 510 bottles of Codeine Phosphate, 1,29,600 tablets etc were recovered from their possession.
Bhang cultivated at many places has also been destroyed as per directives.
People of district have enthusiastically participated in the campaign and widely appreciated the action taken by the police. SP Kulgam Shridhar Patil has appealed the people to join hands with police department to eradicate the drug menace completely so as to ensure drug free atmosphere in the district.
Moreover, Kulgam police is going to organize counselling sessions for the drug addicts especially youth at Police Station level, besides treatment at the drug de-addiction center established by Police department at Anantnag/Srinagar respectively. (KNS)
