Defence committee report on troops cut under consideration of Central Government: Antony

Srinagar, October 27/KNS: Defence Minister A. K. Antony here on Saturday said the report of high powered defence committee constituted to examine PDP’s troops cut demand is under the active consideration of Central Government. However he said the shifting of forces from orchards, Government buildings and other such installations will continue for the time being.
Reports said Defence Minister reached Srinagar on Saturday morning as schedule and straightway drove to tourist hilly resort Pahalgam where he inaugurated Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports. Talking to reporters on this occasion, Defence Minister said Central Government has taken all measures to improve the situation and cooperation is being solicited from people to end violence in the state.
Claiming that Central Government has made army accountable in case of protection to civilian population during anti-militancy operations, Antony said the Central Government will consider with greater amount of sensitivity the report of high powered defence committee constituted on PDP’s troops cut demand, but ruled out demilitarization in view of continuing infiltration from across the line of control (LoC). However he said it is too early to make any prediction on this count.

While New Delhi’s population tried to escape from a 40ºC heat by slipping into air-conditioned shopping centers some 400 miles to the southeast, we gazed upon a cold drizzle through the open third floor window of a building without energy in the middle of Srinagar,

Human Dignity vs. Identity-A tale of a valley in distress!
 By K.Asif

Kashmir, a disputed area on the map of the world, is being constantly ruined by the most dragged term here ‘Dialogue’.
