APSCC appeals Sikh community to celebrate Baisakhi at homes

Srinagar, Apr 12 (KNS): All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) on Sunday appealed members of Sikh community to celebrate Baisakhi at their respective homes and avoid public gatherings since the whole world is battling the Corona Virus at this point of time.
According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that time demands that we should follow social distancing and not carry out any celebration in the form of a congregation. He said that any congregation on the occasion of Baisakhi can lead to disaster in the society.
“The concerned authorities have already issued directions to maintain social distancing and avoid public gatherings. Gurudwara Prabandhak Committees (GPC) has also advised to refrain from crowding. We should pay attention to the directives and celebrate Baisakhi at our respective homes”, Raina said.
Extending greetings, APSCC Chairman said that Baisakhi is celebrated to mark the creation of Khalsa adding that Sikhs should follow the footsteps of the revered Gurus. He said that Sikhs should be a model for the other people and that is the message for the community members in general.
Raina expressed hope that Baisakhi brings out peace and happiness in the entire world. The other APSCC leaders who extended greetings include Ajit Singh Mastana, Principal Niranjan Singh, Kanwal Kashmiri, Devinder Singh, Sant Singh and others. (KNS)
