Express concern over snail pace of developmental projects in Rajouri

Jammu, January 11: (KNS) A deputation of Apni Party from Rajouri District today called on Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari here at Gandhi Nagar Office.

Led by Syed Manzoor Hussain Shah, District President Rajouri, the deputation discussed various developmental and political issues of the border district.

The deputation apprised Altaf Bukhari that the developmental projects which were started by the last popular Govt in Rajouri District have yet to be completed.

“Those projects have no priority before the administration. The work on the projects is going on at a snail pace which is a main cause of concern for the people of the district,” he alleged and appealed that the developmental work should be completed as early as possible for the benefit of the general public.

Shah said that “Rajouri lacks in development and the tourist spots seem to have no place in the tourism map of the concerned department. The authorities have also failed to keep Mughal Road open throughout for vehicular traffic. Like Jammu-Srinagar Highway, Mughal road mostly remains closed due to various reasons and it adversely affects business in the district.”

He appealed that the authorities must be impressed upon to work out difficulties in maintaining the highway and keep it open because it is the economic lifeline of the business men not only in Rajouri or Poonch, but of the entire Jammu Region.

He also thanked Apni Party leadership for extending support for the Forest Right Act implementation in J&K and termed the Act as beneficial for the nomads who faced problems as their claim on the land was opposed and contested by the Govt in past on the name of encroachments. “The poor nomads now would have rights on the land for cultivation and grazing. Gujjars-Bakkerwals are the protectors of forests in J&K and acknowledgement of their rights under the Act has empowered them in real sense,” he informed Altaf Bukhari.

On hearing their issues, Bukhari assured that their issues will be highlighted with the concerned departments for their redressal. Prominent among the deputation were Ch Mir Hussain Sarpanch, Chowdhary Fazal Hussain Sarpanch, Chowdhary Shabir Ahmed Sarpanch, Chowdhary Karam Din Sarpanch, Chowdhary Alam Hussain Sarpanch, Chowdhary Hassan Mohammed Sarpanch, Anwar Hussain, and Chowdhary Mohammad Yousaf.
