Assess losses, rehabilitate fire victims: Noor Mohammad urges DC Srinagar

SRINAGAR, September 21 (KNS): Apni Party district president Srinagar and former legislator Noor Mohammad Sheikh on Monday expressed deep shock and grief over a fire incident at Babadem Khanyar Srinagar.
In a statement issued to KNS, Sheikh demanded immediate rehabilitation of the families that have got affected in the fire incident. He also urged the district administration to depute a revenue team to the spot in order to assess the losses at the earliest.
“The district administration should immediately disburse ex-gratia relief to the fire victim families and help them out from the Red Cross funds till their proper rehabilitation is ensured. Besides, the administration should also assess their losses and pay them adequate compensation accordingly,” he added.
The Apni Party district president also appealed to people especially living in the congested areas in the Srinagar city to take extra precautions in order to thwart such mishaps in future. “Such tragic incidents at times prove fatal for precious human lives besides causing irreparable damages to the properties. We need to be more cautious with regard to electric circuitry in our homes which have been seen responsible for fire incidents in most of the times,” he observed.(KNS)
